After going to several places, we reached Glenn hall were he lived freshman year and where we had had several serious talks about life and our relationship and various stages in our journey. While I was getting the camera ready, he told me he had a gift from the bowling alley for Sam (my cat). [Now as a back story, a long time ago, Glenn and I had gone bowling and he got me a ring from the quarter machine that I’ve worn every day for almost two years now!] He pulls out this little round container and hands it to me and I was so excited he had gotten a toy for Sam! (Yup, still totally didn’t have clue what was about to happen.)
I opened it up and inside was this glow in the dark skull and all I could talk about was how much Sam was going to love playing with it at night! As I turned it over to look at it and noticed a bit of paper towel sticking out and started to pull it out…that’s when I saw the band of the ring and it finally registered! My face turned to shock/surprise/excitement and as Glenn took the ring and got down on one knee I started to cry (and apparently squeal I’ve been told!). He asked if I would marry him and all I remember is saying “of course! yes! of course!”. While he was putting the ring on my finger, there were some cleaning ladies on the bench outside of the science center buildings that started whooping and hollering and it was priceless. Â After he got up and gave me a big hug he started looking over my shoulder and out from the bushes comes my mom, his mom, his sister Laura (who all drove down from Birmingham), Whitney (who drove from Ruston), and Sarah and Tori. They had been hiding the whole time taking pictures! After lots of hugs and more pictures, we all went to Glenn’s house where his dad and several of our other friends were waiting to have dinner that our families had made and celebrate!
As it turned out, Glenn had made up his cousins being in town because he knew I would dress cute to meet them, and that he planned the bowling ahead of time, and that he created the document for the scavenger hunt himself (which looked so legit!) all to make sure this day was the most perfect and memorable day for me. I couldn’t have imagined it any better  & couldn’t be more blessed to share that day with so many of the people that mean the most to me!
i never knew that i could love someone the way that i love you.
ben rector’s song white dress says it’s all too well…
i am so blessed and still overwhelmed with joy that i get to marry my best friend! 🙂 i could not have asked for a more perfect man for me to spend the rest of my life with.  to me, his perfection for me comes in ways that differ from what you may expect.  by no means am i saying he is without blame, however it is in his quirks, his flaws, and his shortcomings, along with his successes, intelligence in so many ways, his humor and so much more that makes him perfect for me.  i have never been challenged so much by one person. challenged to stand up for what i believe in. challenged to have confidence and assurance in what i am so incapable of seeing. to trust, and to allow vulnerability. he has taught me so much more than i think he can even begin to comprehend. and i could not be more excited to learn and grow with him as we continue in our relationship together. he always knows how to make me laugh. to make me smile. to share in the simplicity of life and see the joy in the smallest moments. he shows me love more creatively and fully than i have ever known.  through him Christ’s love has become such an even more evident and realistic image in my journey. i can’t be more thrilled to see what the Lord has in store for us as we make this next step together in pursuing how we are to glorify our brilliant Creator. 🙂
i wonder when it’s all going to sink in that i’m engaged? here’s how it all went down…
Friday, April 30, 2010 in Auburn, AL
Glenn told me early during the week that his cousins were going to be in town on Friday and wanted to take us to dinner, so I made sure to keep that night open. Â Around Wednesday, he told me that our friend Steve really wanted to go bowling on Friday so we planned to go bowl a game after I was done on campus and before we went to dinner. Â On Thursday, Glenn told me that John Carl, his roommate, had been on the Alumni website and found this picture scavenger hunt that you could do and attach to your application for a free year’s membership and that we should do it sometime that weekend. Â I was so excited about this and was really looking forward to going around campus to take all the pictures. I had no clue just what was going to take place on this particular Friday!
So Friday comes along and my meeting on campus ran late, so everyone was at the bowling alley waiting for me to start the game by the time I made it there.  We all had a fun time bowling and I even won the game! After we left, Glenn and I went to park at Wesley because we were going to eat downtown and he said they were running late and because of traffic were going to be another 45 mins.  He got excited and said we could do the scavenger hunt then (I always have my camera in my purse) to take up time.  So we set out following the clues and going around campus taking pictures at a bunch of our favorite places in Auburn.  At this point, I still am clueless to the night’s happenings!
It could not have been a more perfect day and I loved every bit of it!! He did such an amazing job!! 🙂
