i must admit i was inspired by a friend’s recent post. since finishing grad school, i’ve tried (not entirely successfully) to get back to reading as much as i once did. for the past few years now (since about junior year of undergrad!) i’ve had little time to read for pleasure but have rather been forced to read a multitude of journals, articles, and textbooks that, though i enjoyed, i have not had the liberty of choosing. well as part of my aforementioned resolutions i pledged to read more. here’s how that has been going…
books, books, and more books. a few are occupying each list, and i’m always up for suggestions…
i’m currently reading:
ones on hold:
waiting to purchase:
(*mainly b/c i’m cheap & i wouldn’t be able to get to reading them for a while – but also b/c i can’t decide if i should invest in a nook/kindle….thoughts?)
and an all-time favorite that i plan to read again in the near future (which is being made into a movie. starring emma watson. i’m pretty excited):
that’s all for now. more to come. i’ve got lots of favorites! an suggestions on books to read? or opinions on a kindle vs. a nook? do tell!

okay, finally coming back to this… have you ever read any david sedaris before? I am a semi-fan. i REALLY REALLY want to like him, but I have a hard time really liking him.
I love middlesex – I've read it twice. I hope you like it. You'll have to let me know. Also let me know if the Lauren Conrad book is worth reading.
everyone I know loved "eat pray love," but I really didn't. I found it really… self-indulgent. I was even less of a fan once I saw her on Oprah. I couldn't even bring myself to watch the movie. Sorry.
I think I told you over e-mail, I LOVE Perks of Being a Wallflower… now that I've gotten around to reading this post and not just glancing over it, I see you love it, also. That makes me happy. Have you read the virgin suicides?
What is your all time favorite book? Favorite author… or writer? Do you like young adult or do you mainly stick to literary fiction?

oh, and here are my book suggestions:
the help – Kathryn Stockett
little bee – chris cleave
the millenium trilogy
the hunger game trilogy (LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS)
for fun:
The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club by Gil McNeil (there is a second book called needles & pearls).
i did NOT like:
a reliable wife. i really wanted to. the writing was great and I didn't hate the plot, but the characters were all awful people.

thanks for the suggestions shelley! everyone keeps adding the help to my list & the hunger game trilogy too. i'll have to check those out 🙂 sad to hear about eat pray love. i never saw the movie. the lauren conrad book is good to read here and there but not to sit down and go through. it's informative & fun.
i like a pretty random array of books, but i'd say for sure some favorites are james patterson (alex cross series), humor/memoirs (love david sedaris, auguston burroughs is good). i also really like shane claiborne & rob bell too. and of course harry potter. haha, random collection 🙂
