Chalkboard paint has been all the rage these days and I must admit I was rather eager to jump on the bandwagon with this particularly easy trend. We made this project last year and had leftover boards that I wanted to utilize. A few cuts left us with four boards for my latest visions. The only thing we bought was the chalkboard paint and have barely made a dent in it. A lot more projects will come when we’re in a house as there is so much you can do with this tiny can!
Mini Board
I love the idea of being able to use a small board to convey a message at the front door or even in a picture so I wanted to use the smallest piece of the board and add some flare to it for that purpose! I added the bow with some leftover ribbon to spice it up a bit. I used hooks as well so I can take off the burlap “strap” as needed depending on the situation or even hang it directly on something. We will definitely be using this for all of our upcoming anniversary pictures!
Menu Board
I was in Swoozie’s the other day and saw an adorable chalkboard and wood menu board for the kitchen that was ridiculously expensive (I’m talking close to $100) so I immediately thought of how to recreate it….
We are meal planners in this family and I love being able to have a visual menu so this was a perfect craft for me. I had the green paint leftover from a few previous projects around the house so it matches perfectly with those pieces, one of which is even already n the kitcken. Instead of framing the days with wood, I simply used painters tape to block off the sections instead & I love the way it turned out!
Quote Board
I have seen numerous quote boards on Pinterest and in stores and loved the idea for a mantle as an easy update with the seasons. In leu of one large single board, I wanted to connect the two boards I had with something to make one piece. The husband had a fantastic idea to find some antique hinges or something to connect the boards and we were able to find these wonderful old keyhole door plates at the Flea Market. It tuned out great, and I can’t wait to have a mantle to put this on!
