Happy New Year! Excited for 2013, but for a moment I want to focus on the festivities from the final night of 2012. I always love a good reason to get together with friends and celebrate life. So naturally NYE is yet another excuse to have some fun. And to wear glitter and sequins. And what girl doesn’t love to do that?
Every year for a while, our NYE ritual was to venture to a friends house and have the most epic party of the year gathered together to share in copious amounts of laughter, games, and toasting. As our little cluster has all since graduated and moved on for jobs or grad school, the past two years we have had to celebrate apart. So for this year, as it will likely be the last time we celebrate the end of the year down here in Mobile, the husband and I did went for an all out true Mobilian experience!
As a wonderful surprise, he reserved us a room downtown at a precious historic 1940’s hotel so we could enjoy all of the festivities and not have to drive at all!
Diner at Royal Scam (and a duck panini to boot), Bears at the Exploreum, parade, beads, throws, friends, and the moon pie drop. Truly an experience. We had a blast bringing in the new year in quite a special way that is specifically Mobile!
I love traditions and once we’re settled for good would enjoy creating a new tradition for our NYE festivities. The in-laws do a gumbo gathering each year for the night and I think that’s such a creative and unique way to celebrate. What do you do to celebrate New Years Eve?
