A fellow blogger, and new friend, alerted me that I was a “no-reply blogger” and to be honest, I had no idea what she meant at first! Then I did some searching and realized that every time I posted a comment on a blog, it showed the name I put, but no email address. Meaning that, any further communication was limited and also appearing as though you may not be a “real” person, or that worst of all, you did exist but where an anti-social hermit that wanted to stay hidden! So while I was surprised to hear that I was unknowingly one of those commenters, I was somewhat thankful to know that was the reason no one to respond to me! Very grateful for Jess @ jmnway for being kind enough to let me know! Y’all should check out her blog : ) Anyhow, if you have upgraded to the Google+ dashboard, and blog or comment through blogger, you probably, unknowingly, have become a new, antisocial, no-reply blogger too.
No-reply means your profile/email aren’t properly linked together. So when you comment on a blog, your email is not connected and that person canโt respond to you via email instead of only in the comments. Your name shows up, but the email is <noreply-comment@blogger.com>.
So how did this happen?
This is a glitch between Google+ and blogger. When you switched to Google+, you lost the option to fix blogger account settings. So now you need to revert back to your old blogger dashboard to fix it, then you can go back to Google+ again if you so desire.
How do I know if this applies to me?
You don’t. Unless someone gets a no-reply email from you, travels to your blog, finds your email/Facebook, etc. and notifies you, you won’t ever know except for never getting a reply and thinking no one wants to respond to you! Silly thoughts, right? So team up with a fellow blogger and find out if you have become anti-social without meaning to!
Even if you haven’t made the switch to the new Google+ profile, I suggest you check your blogger settings anyway just to be sure if you want people to be able to reply to you. And for those that don’t blog, but do comment, if you don’t have an email activated through blogger, you come up as a no-reply too.
So, how do I fix it?
Fixing is actually pretty easy. I googled it (ironic that the site that provided the issues lead me to the resolution) and came across a great blog with an excellent tutorial. Check it out.
what?! i’m a no-reply blogger!? the google+ fix |
The only helpful hint I would dare to add would be the following: I had issues trying to fix it because after I reverted back to blogger, when I hit profile it pulled up my Google+ profile still. Easy fixโฆlog out of your Google+ then log in to your blogger dashboard.
Good Luck!

I absolutely have the worst time sending bloggers replies because of this! It's awful!! I'm going to, eventually, write a post about this myself!

I can imagine! And the worst part is that they probably have no idea!

I know! I'm thinking that as I find out someone is a no-reply I'm gonna go to their blog and leave them a comment so they know and a link to a post on how they can fix it! lol. I just think that the word hasn't spread enough so that's why there are so many no-replies out there. Posts like these sure do help though!
And you're a Reply Blogger now! I just checked for you!
