I started working with a Behavior Consulting agency that provides behavior analytic services both in homes and in the school systems in the middle of January, and am loving every bit of it. After a few months off, it’s great to be back in the field and in a place where I am able to do not only what I was trained in school for, but what I thoroughly enjoy doing. It makes a huge difference. You can read about my story about quitting, and how your job can certainly impact all other areas of your life here.
This past month has been super crazy with finalizing everything to leave Mobile and transfer everything that remained there up here. The husband and I have had to do the long distance bit since he is tying up loose ends at work there and let me just say, it has been no fun at all but really a blessing as well. I know, crazy, right? Don’t get me wrong, it absolutely sucks to have to live in different cities, even for a short time, but it has really made me love and appreciate him even more than I already do. Especially since I have been super sick all week. And I’m talking about the sore throat, coughing, sneezing, achy, fever, loose your voice completely kind of sick. FaceTime just doesn’t compare to a giant hug and kiss from the one you love, especially when you can’t even speak loud enough to say hello. Or the awesome cooking and hilarious continual singing of just about everything you can imagine that makes me smile even on the worst of days. Every morning of waking up and he wasn’t there to kiss me goodbye made me feel like I was missing a huge part of me…
This is the first time we’ve had to do the long distance since we’ve been married, but have done spouts of time away previously due to the trips and the like, but funny enough we sort of started off our dating relationship extremely long distance. Long story short, we had been sort of dating right before I left for Russia & Latvia for the summer and decided to not label anything and just see what happened when I got back to the states after those three months. Well, as it turned out we figured out how to stay in touch and our bond grew even more despite the distance and I was welcomed home to the sweetest surprise ever of him waiting in the airport (pretty much all day!) with my mom. So needless to say we continued dating and the rest is, well, history 🙂 So I’ve tried to reminded myself that if we could do long distance across countries then when we were just figuring out where our hearts were, how much more can we figure out how to do it now, just four hours away?
I am so excited for this next chapter in our lives and all of the things that come with this move. As we settle in, be prepared for some awesome posts about our new journey is this wonderful city!

Welcome to Birmingham 🙂 Moving can be so exciting! My husband and I did the "long distance" thing for 8 months when I lived in Atlanta and he lived here in Birmingham and I think it just made us stronger. You really do learn to appreciate all the little things that much more when you are together!

I 101% agree with Nadine's comment above! Welcome to the Magic City! I could not love this area of Alabama more! My husband and I have been married for seven months but we were long distance travelers for 5 years while he was at UA and I at LSU. It was lovely in every way that you described above 🙂 It is so good to know that there are couples out there who will stick through the thick and thin for the long haul!
