Raw almond butter is probably my new favorite food item! It is absolutely delightful with sliced apples for a tasty and healthy snack. The only problem is that it’s CRAZY expensive to find just raw almond butter with no added ingredients like palm oil or cane syrup to sweeten it a bit. SO the husband suggested we make our own and so we did! Sooo very easy to do and really the most simple process. Just be patient, and you’ll have a batch in no time!
INGREDIENTS
2 cups dry raw almonds
*optional (I did not use): 2 tablespoons of honey & 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt
DIRECTIONS
Place the almonds only (do not add the honey or salt) into your food processor. Our food processor is currently in a box in storage, so I used the in-laws’ food processor and it worked just as well so I was happy!
Food process your almonds. Keep scraping the sides. At first, the almonds will just be all powdery and you’ll think you need to add liquids. But do NOT add any liquids.
Just keep processing them and scraping the sides…When you get to this point, it’s almond flour. You can use this as an alternative in cookie recipes {which I have ever intention of trying and letting y’all know about!}.
Seriously, keep processing and scraping the sides for approximately ten minutes or so.
You’ll see that your almonds will eventually turn kind of doughy and more oil will appear as you go. Keep processing them… They’ll turn buttery if you process long enough.
After approximately ten minutes of food processing (could be a bit longer or a bit less depending on the strength of your food processor), your raw almond butter recipe is basically ready. It’s pretty loud and the beginning, so make sure no one is scared of loud noises before you start!
Once you’ve got the consistency you like, you can add the honey and salt and mix by hand if you so choose. I think it’s wonderful as is personally! Otherwise, just use a spoon and put into a jar & pop in the fridge until you’re ready to use!
And don’t forget to check out Coffee & Conversation so you can link up next week 🙂

I have actually done this and LOVED the results. I was just disappointed that the butter ended up so dry…of course I didn't add honey so maybe that would've helped lol.
