Thankful

This year I am most thankful for my health. Now that may seem a bit silly, but it’s something so evident in my life right now. This time last year I was being poked and prodded and told that not only did I have a tumor, but that it was quite likely that I had cancer. Cancer. At twenty six. That’s a hard pill to swallow…

Something the husband and I were completely unprepared to hear.  Over the years I have been relatively healthy, minus a few setbacks here and there in high school, so it was a huge switch of gears to really think about the possibilities of what was to come. You can read about our whole journey through that time here. So to be standing here this year, completely cancer free, with fewer stomach issues than ever, breath in my lungs, heart beating and for the first time since high school feeling completely comfortable with my weight and body image, I’d say I am very blessed. And extremely thankful every day for those things. That I have full mobility. That all of my senses are in tact. That I don’t have to be in fear daily that my body will deliberately disobey me and hinder me from living life. Something we all too often take for granted. Something I pray to cherish each moment, and do everything I can to ensure I stay as healthy as can be.

What are you most thankful for this year?
