Make This Day Count

simply elliott logo in gold

Perhaps it’s the weather. The wind ceaselessly blowing, threatening with every gust to snap the limbs just beyond the door. The clouds refusing to share the sunlight, covering the skies in a gloomy blanket. Or perhaps it’s just this season of life, growing into adulthood and yet still feeling like a child. But more than usual I’ve been thinking about how incredibly fleeting this life is. How we are not promised tomorrow. How today’s interactions could be our last with any number of people. How each conversation, each breath, can either point those around us to Christ or drive them farther away.

Life is too short to spend our days lacking joy. To spew words that are lacking love. For our actions to be lacking mercy. And for our lives to be lacking His peace. If today were our last, would we be able to say we made it count?  If today were our last… how would we live?

I want to live today, and every day, in the moment. Making the most of every opportunity. Focusing on what this day will bring. Not worrying about the future. Not living in fear of what could happen. Cherishing this wonderful blessing we call life, never lacking in anything.  If just for today,  I want to exude His love. If just for today, I want my words to reflect His glory. If just for today, I want my very being to direct others to Him.

Love this post, every day and every moment we need to strive to present Christ in our attitudes.
