When thinking about the most unforgettable character, there are a few places my mind goes. Of course one could interpret this as a living person from your life. Someone who has influenced you in some way, that they have been branded on your heart. You can read about one such person in my life here.
Another possibility would be the portrayal of a role done by an actor or actress or just someone famous all together. In the realm of television and film, my mind goes to the loving & caring role of Mr. Rogers first. Lauren Conrad is another, not so much for her roles on TV, but rather what she has accomplished in her life professionally.
Well, as y’all well know by now, I’m a big dork. I love reading, I love school, and I just plain love learning. So naturally, my mind came to think of this question as coming from a literary meaning. Check my 100 Must Read Books list if you’re bored 😉 So with that in mind, here is how I would respond…
I love the Harry Potter series, and very much can identify with Hermione. Intelligent, independent, rule following, passionate & a fierce friend who grows into herself over the years by doing what is right and what is good. There are many aspects of Katniss form the Hunger Games that have stuck with me as well. Strong, determined, independent, clever, broken yet brave, and from humble beginnings. The heroines of their respective tales. You can read more about these two in a post I wrote earlier here. You can also read about one character I find to be less than a great role model…I’m sorry I’m not sorry for the potential controversy in that post.
In scriptures so often I find myself split. Identifying with so many of the characters we find within the pages of the Bible. Currently, our Sunday School Class is going through Max Lucado’s book, Cast of Characters: Common People in the Hands of an Uncommon God. And I must say, I often times find myself thinking that it could be me he is speaking of. I have struggled like David to live up to being called “after God’s own heart”. I have been both Mary and Martha at times. Sitting at the feet of my Savior with open hears, eyes fixed upon him; and then in turn bustling about consumed in this world of hurry and worry trying to be a superwoman. I have been obedient like Joseph, but then doubtful like Thomas. So many characters in the Bible are so unforgettable simply because they are human. The fail. They fall short. And yet, they are still loved. Still used. And still blessed. And that will forever stick with me, because if they are, so can I be.
