“I don’t know about you, but I’m feeling 22…You don’t know about me but I bet you want to!” Who doesn’t love a little Taylor Swift? In light on being in love with this song (along with every other song she sings) recently, I decide to link up with Alabama Women Bloggers for the Getting to Know You link up this week as a good many ladies are new to the blog. And who doesn’t love to get to know people a little better 🙂 I typically don’t join in to several link ups, but I do enjoy a good “get to know you” set of questions and these were different than most I’ve seen! Enjoy, and if you’re an Alabama blogger, be sure to go link up!
1. What part of the state do you call home?
Just outside of Birmingham, now. Although Auburn will always be a bit of home for me as well 🙂

2. How long have you been blogging?
Prob since 2004 when I had a Xanga site (haha), but for real since about 2010 writing on this blog & then entered what I now call “blogland” in 2013.

3. Why did you start blogging?
I love to write. Blogging was just an easy outlet to have those thoughts and incorporate pictures and the like into that writing. I also liked the idea of having it all in one space rather than in countless journals.

4. What is your favorite part of being a member of the Alabama Women Bloggers community?
The opportunity to “meet” other like minded women who share in this journey as well. The added exposure to new readers and the opportunity to learn from others as well.

5. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
As my husband always says, “living the dream!”. Settled into our house, fully involved in community, working in my field still, and simply enjoying living life with my husband, family, and friends. And even perhaps having some kiddos by then 🙂

6. If you could choose an actress to play you in your life, who would you choose and why?
Probably Emma Watson. I’ve always wanted to have a British accent! But also because I think she has many of the same qualities I would hope to have both in real life and the roles she has played. I think she could bring the dorkiness and loyalty of Hermione and the soul searching and a bit eccentric Sam to a mesh that would describe so much of who I am.

7. Name 5 things on your Bucket List that you hope you’ll check off before you die?
- Travel (more) extensively through Europe & really all over the world!
- Complete a half marathon or sprint triathlon
- See all my favorite musical artists live concert
- Be a published author
- Become a mother
8. If you could be known for one thing, what would it be and why?
I don’t really know how to describe this because it’s more than just one thing I guess. I have this image in my mind of the girl I want to be thought of – that indescribable quality that encompasses so much more than can be expressed with one word – an example of Christ. I want to be known for being hospitable; opening my home & heart to others. I want to be known as being generous; freely giving to those in need and to those I care for as well. I want to be known for being loving; in my relationship with my husband & those around me. I want to be known for being joyful; regardless the circumstance, praising Him. I have such a long way to go to be close to such a description!

9. Describe the best moment in your life.
Goodness this is a hard question. I know I’m only in my twenties, but I have had the wonderful privilege to experience a great many things in my short little life so far. Our wedding day tops the list for sure! Or when he proposed 🙂 My times out of the country have each produced some incredible moments as well. Graduating from Auburn on both occasions were pretty exhilarating accomplishments. I have been so blessed that it’s really hard to pick just one, and I am so thankful for that. Each moment has the potential to be the best until the next one comes along!

10. If you could “be” anything (no consequences, no fear), what would you “be”?
I would be a published author. It always comes back to writing.

11. What or who inspires you to blog?
Life. The simplicity and joy of chronicling these thoughts and what the Lord is teaching me as I journey in the world of being a wife, a friend, a daughter, a sibling, and maybe one day a mother. To share my attempts as I am learning how to craft and cook and the rest.

12. We’re headed to your neck of the woods… what restaurant would you recommend?
Hmmmm. We don’t eat out all too often, but I think currently I would say Cafe Dupont. We had our rehearsal dinner there and it was delicious! Otherwise I’d say if you were here you’d have to go to O’Henry’s Coffee or Steel City Pops. Favorites for some quality friend time!

13. What’s a southern tradition you and your family have?
Well as our little family, we have begun a few very southern traditions of our own! We make our own pickles, and laundry detergent, and hopefully soon will make our own jams and jellies too. I also really enjoy the strong family traditions I married into. Every Sunday we get together at Grandmother’s house after church to join in a meal together (around 10 or so of us that are in town) and holidays are a full family gathering!

14. If you could pick your favorite blog post from your blog this year, what would it be?
I’m so bad at picking favorites (or picikng anything haha) but I think I would say this one. I’d love to hear what your favorite posts have been!
