Hi there! My name is Heather and I spend the majority of my blogging time over at From Here to There where I talk about the randoms of life (in my case: recipes, running, workouts, friends, the occasional DIY). I’m a full-fledge Mississippi girl and I’m stinkin’ proud of it! I graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Marketing and spent 7-8 months working at Disney World! I’m so excited to be a part of Lauren’s blog today. I love the fact that she shares the simplicity of what life can be through her blog via recipes, DIY, and just every day life!
As I was contemplating what to write about today or what recipe/DIY I’d choose to share, I first realized… that I don’t think I personally blog about enough recipe’s or DIY’s *shameful!* and secondly… that I wanted to pick something that would fit in well with Lauren’s blog and her readers (i.e. something Simple!) So let me present you with the easiest and simplest form of the perfect snack!
Energy Balls
Let me explain why I absolutely LOVE these little snack balls so much!
1. Simple to make *Score*
2. Provide little boost of energy in my day *Score*
3. Diverse *Score*
4. Healthy Ingredients *Score*
5. Easy for travel *Score*
6. No baking or using electrical appliances *Score*
Basically, as you can see… it’s a win-win-win-win-win-win.
This is how I make my energy balls, but then I’ll provide you with some other suggestions on what you can add in yours!
My Ingredients:
1 cup dry oatmeal
1/2 cup peanut butter (I try all natural or low fat)
1/2 cup chocolate chips (I usually do dark chocolate)
1/2 cup flaxseed
1/3 cup of honey (I sometimes use agave nectar)
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Mix all ingredients together. Roll up into little balls.
Then, I like to store mine 3-4 per little sandwich bag for easy travel and to control myself when I eat them.
Now I mentioned that these were Diverse and that was a win because sometimes you get tired of the same thing… or maybe you don’t like one of the ingredients I use for mine (which, I’m not sure how that’s possible!), but let me give you a few suggestions on other things you could incorporate!
*Coconut
*Dried Fruit
*Nuts
*Almond Butter
*Sunflower Seeds
*Protein Powder
*Cinnamon
*Syrup
*Coconut Butter
*Nutritional Yeast
And I’m sure the list could go on.
I hope you enjoy making some Delicious Energy Balls and I’m sure they’ll provide you with spurts of energy throughout your day! They also make a great stand-in dessert for lunch/dinner when you’re craving something sweet/chocolately/peanut buttery… [reeses, maybe?] but know you shouldn’t indulge there… grab an energy ball!
I enjoyed being here with y’all today and filling in for my sweet friend Lauren, who I had the priveledge of meeting at my very first ever blate! She’s a doll and I love coming back to her blog for ways to simplify my life (Because the good Lord knows that I try to complicate it more than I should).
