I must admit this challenge has been a lot easier than I expected. I love the pieces I selected and it’s really forced me to “shop” my closet. I do find myself wishing I could wear certain pieces I didn’t include, but that’s the point, right? To want what I have in my closet. I’m taking mental note of those items so that at the end of the challenge I can go through my closet and sell/donate what remains that I wasn’t longing to wear all month. I’ve also noticed the pieces I tend to gravitate towards and use in several outfits as opposed to some pieces I chose that I haven’t used as much. Y’all, this is really a great learning experience.
Have you ever seen an outfit and thought, “Oh I LOVE that look, but I’m not _____ enough to wear that.” ? Fill in the blank with whatever you choose. For me it goes a little something like this…
not skinny enough
not tall enough
not trendy enough
not girly enough
There was a great reminder on JCaro the other day that her grandmother said of an old photograph of her self and as simple as it sounds, there is so much truth to it:
I told my grandmother she looked so pretty, and she said, “I saw the pictures and thought that too! Too bad I didn’t know it back then!” Isn’t that the truth? Just a poignant reminder to show grace to ourselves today. The further away we get from today the more perspective we have to know what is important.
While I haven’t been taking pictures of myself in these outfits to look through, I have had a similar revelation with the outfits I have created. A lot of them are very girly. A lot of them are pretty trendy too. It’s interesting to be able to step back and view them as “pins” I might see from someone else and realize, “hey, I made up that cute outfit!”. While I certainly can’t change my height, this may be the kick I need to see myself a bit differently, and perhaps even as others might view me.
So without further ado, happy #fashionfriday! Welcome to week two of the 30×30 challenge! If you missed it, be sure to check out week one’s outfits, as well as the 30 items I chose. Here are the outfits from this week!

And it was chilly in the mornings this week so I pulled out a few of my awesome jackets (even though people think I’m weird for being frigid in the high 50s-low 60s…I’d never make it in the North y’all) but I wanted to share with y’all some of my favorite fall jackets that are great for transitioning from warmer to cooler weather.
1. gray leather zip front jacket (Apt 9. Kohl’s) // 2. black cotton mid thigh length coat – with
removable hood (Gap) // 3. khaki long trench coat with belt (Gap)
These three pieces are extremely versatile as every one can be dressed up or down and they offer more warmth than a cardigan and can change up your whole look depending how you wear it. I love the neutral colors too so that as it gets even cooler I can pair fun scarves with them as well! A great time to get coats/jackets is in the “off season” too as there area great sales and you can save 50% or more on classic pieces. For example – I didn’t pay anywhere near full price on any of these & they were all purchased in store & not second hand. This is true for winter coats as well or really any seasonal items.
Have you joined in? Or done a challenge similar to this before? I would love to hear about it!
