As with any project, you learn a great deal a long the way in addition to the grand revelations that come upon completing the task. Already I have learned which stores I frequent most and which stores have items that fit me well. These are also the stores that produce good quality clothing – something that has grown to really be an important factor in my choices. For staples, I always go with quality (and some sort of sale!) and then I can add in some more eclectic pieces from boutiques (especially in jewelry & scarves). For shoes, a good many are from Target (they carry teeny tiny sizes) or are TOMS (b/c I’m obsessed, they’re comfy, and it’s a terrific cause). I’ve also learned I love simplicity when it comes to my clothes as well- more neutral colors, stripes, and polka dots.
With that being said – welcome to the first #fashionfriday! Here are the first seven outfits created with my 30 pieces for the 30×30. I actually created a good many outfits and took pictures to have as a guide in helping me get ready every morning – and it has been the best decision ever to help when choosing outfits! Instead of having to get all creative in the morning before I’ve had my coffee – because lets’ just be honest mornings are not my favorite until I get going – I was able to scroll through “outfits” and pick what matched my mood and the weather. Best. Decision. Ever.
- I did have to add in my rain boots, rain jacket, and umbrella for some of the time, though no pictures to show of that. And it was a tad chilly in the mornings so hopefully soon I can break out a few jackets a well which I’ll take pictures of to share. And don’t forget, this challenge doesn’t include workout gear or “lounge” wear – but I have started looking through those items to determine if I need all the items I have in those collection and how I can trim down and mix & match!
- Also, I’ve found that being able to easily see the accessories you have helps a great deal when outfit planning. I rely on my jewelry organizer to hold all my fashion accessories for easy access when getting ready, as well as being great wall decor!
- Everyday items: unless other earrings or additional rings or bags are listed, I will have on my trusty staples (below) each and every day almost all of which were gifted to me from family or friends and have special meaning in addition to style.
1. my beautiful engagement & wedding bands (husband) // 2. etched ring: Russia (gift) //
3. pearl studs: Kohl’s // 4. watch: Michael Kors (gift) // 5. purse/hobo: Coach (gift)
