The middle of the summer has a way of dragging on, making us wish for cooler weather and some creative ideas to beat the heat. What better way than to imagine snow and the fun of the holidays β without all the stress and busyness, of course! As I’ve partnered with Shutterfly before, I thought it would be fun to do so again for this creative idea! So today, Heather is here to share some ideas for throwing your very own Christmas in July party:
Β· Invitations. The beauty of a Christmas in July party is that itβs unexpected. Surprise your guests with customized invitations to your party, complete with silly photos and instructions on what guests should wear and what they should bring. You can also use your personalized address stamp to ease the preparation as well and made addressing those envelopes a snap!
(As a fun thank you note, be sure to send personalized photo cards afterward featuring pictures of your guests enjoying themselves at the party!)
Β· DΓ©cor. Itβs easy to decorate for a Christmas in July party. Simply bring out your holiday decorations and put up your lights, garland, mistletoe, etc. If you want to incorporate a bit of summer and winter together, create a tree made of seashells or a door wreath constructed from colorful drink umbrellas.
Β· Food and drinks. You could serve your traditional holiday fare, with elegant appetizers, ham, a variety of side salads, and rolls. Or, given that this party is taking place in the summer, have some fun combining holiday menu items with summer treats. For example, try peppermint ice cream or red and green margaritas. Visit this creative site for some extra cute menu items, like watermelon Christmas trees and strawberry Santas. Or be sure to try these fantastic holiday drink recipes for Gingerbread Coke floats!
Β· Activities. Of course, youβll want to have holiday music playing in the background, but whatβs a party without some great activities? The holidays are so busy that it can be difficult to truly enjoy the activities associated with them, so this is a chance to slow down and have fun with them. For example, host a cookie decorating competition or let guests decorate their own ornaments. Or have everyone bring a gift for a White Elephant gift exchange. To mix things up a bit, try a βsnowballβ fight in the backyard with blue and white water balloons, or arrange a Christmas scavenger hunt with prizes.
Whatever you decide to do for your Christmas in July party, have fun with it! This is a chance to get together with loved ones and enjoy each otherβs company without the stress the holidays often bring.
