Around this time of year, many people are itching to be away from the cooler temps, and head to somewhere sunny for a small vacation before the holidays. If you’re like us, hitting the beach mid Sep-early Nov is the best since children are in school and the beaches are mostly empty. Another big time is over Thanksgiving or Christmas breaks making a getaway away from the snow! So I wanted to shall with y’all some beach trip essentials as you prep for these upcoming adventures in the sun & sand!
One of my ultimate go-to’s are chair clips. Call me crazy, but nothing drives me nuts more than my towel flapping in my face or falling in the sand when I get up to test the water or go for a walk. With these handy guys, that isn’t an issue. And as an added bonus, they are super cute! I got these on clearance at Target.
Another must is a large bag that is waterproof & a cooler that isn’t too massive. I love this Vera Bradley beach tote because it can fit multiple towels, books, a football, Frisbee, sunscreen, and waterproof case for phones & chapstick plus more. And it wipes clean of water and sand in no time! I got it at a consignment shop for less than $10 and it was a steal! This small cooler is the perfect size for a 6 pack & some ice, perfect for when a large cooler just isn’t necessary! This was a gift, but somewhere like Swoozies would have a similar tote.
Speaking of drinks, you’ve got to have somewhere to put your beverage so it doesn’t get all sandy! This spike cup holder is perfect for when you have a low chair without a cup holder or are laying on your towel & there are so many so choose from – check Swoozies for some great options!
Setup is key, and having an umbrella is a must! It keeps your stuff cooler and offers a perfect spot for a bit of shade during those toastier of days – especially here in the south!
When packing swimsuits, versatility is key. Go for two pieces that compliment one another and can be mixed up. That way, you can pack less, but have more variety throughout your stay. As you can see, my 4 suits become 7 with a little swapping! Black bottoms are a great staple as you can get some pretty cute clearance tops to pair with them for completely different looks too.
Having a cover up that isn’t cotton is a must for me. There’s nothing worse than putting on a cover up over a wet suit and have giant water stains were your boobs & butt are. This one provides coverage and breath-ability without being prone to water spots. Another key item is a great hat (or a few!) that you can wear on the beach or on the way to lunch to cover your face & hide that less than flattering salt blown tousle until you’ve had a chance to wipe the seat off.
Now that you’ve got your essentials packed, hit the beach, relax, and enjoy the view!
