If you know me at all you know I love a good fruity beverage! Punches of all kinds are always welcome in our household and it’s a go to party item to make so I’m always in search of new recipes to fiddle with and make our own. For our friends 30th birthday we were in charge of bringing a tasty drink & so I scoured for a yummy recipe for a punch of sorts and came across this delicious looking picture for what they called “Princess Punch”. Hello perfection for a Little Mermaid themed shindig!
Yummy, right? So I set out to get the ingredients, tweaked them slightly, and made our concoction. I loved the rich color of the drink above, but was a little perplexed on how the strawberry icecream was going to work in this drink as I thought it might make it a bit frothy, and I was curious about how they got the color that deep with all of the ingredients being so light. Now I don’t know about you, but in my world, strawberry  ice cream looks like the picture on the left, and strawberry gelato the picture on the right, correct?
Well, despite these concerns, we set forth with the drink and mixed it all together and, let me tell you, it was heavenly! The flavors went very well together and it was light and creamy and spot on for the party. But rest assured, it looked NOTHING like the pretty picture above. I mean, not even close. Like total Pinterest fail visually. Everything I was worried about turned out to be valid concerns, however the taste was fantastic. This is why they tell you to never judge a book by it’s cover.
Here’s how to make it (the not so pretty but uber tasty version). I wonder how using gelato would change the flavor but you better believe I’m going to try it out & see if I can’t make a more colorful red punch next go round!
