When it’s cold outside, it’s easy to forget all the things we usually do to keep our pets happy and healthy during the summer months. Here a few tips to keep them (and you!) happy this winter!
Have Fun Toys to Play With
Riley is a German Shorthaired Pointer and is extremely active. Keeping her active is the best way to keep her happy. While she’s free to romp around all day outside, having fun toys to play with at night are key. Especially when it’s too chilly for the whole family to go on another walk in the evening. I always try to grab a new toy when we’re exploring in Target. It’s ok to get lost wandering the aisles when everyone gets a treat, right? I think so.
Give Them AÂ Space to Keep Warm
While Riley and Piper expend a lot of energy outside, we like to keep a towel or blanket on the outdoor couch in case they want to curl up in the sunshine to take a nap. Inside, they both have spots where they can cozy up and keep warm. Having a spot where they can keep warm while it’s cold is a must!
Have Treats That Can Be Enjoyed Inside
While outdoor walks, and balls of all sizes are fun for puppy dog, she also loves a good treat. For Riley, when we watch a movie or a game at night, we love to give her a large bone to keep occupied with. This is a special treat for her and is great for her to chew on and enjoy. I always stock up on a handful of these so we’re always prepared with a treat that not only satisfies, but keeps her busy for a while!
Keep The Carpet Clean
One of the things that can be tricky about having pets is the mess they bring inside with them. Our dog, (and cat!) track in all sorts of dirt and yucky stuff through the doggy door throughout the day. Â Add in the treats I mentioned above above, and the rug in the living room and the carpet in the bedrooms get rather messy.
The thing I love most about STAINMASTER® Carpet Pet Stain Remover is that it both cleans and protects. Not only does it remove stains and eliminates odors with the ODOR REMOVE™ technology, it actually repels dirt making it easier to clean the next time. Which, hello, is seriously an issue around here. So naturally, I popped over to our local Target to grab some. The Target at the Grove in Hoover seriously has everything we need.
All you need to do is spray (liberally), wait (3-5 minutes), and blot (dampen with water & blot with towel). Super simple. You can find STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover in the cleaning aisle at Target, which is super helpful since you’ll need to grab other cleaning items as well. STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover is not available at all Target locations though, but it is available online. Click here to find STAINMASTER Carpet Pet Stain Remover, or have it shipped for free, to your local Target store. How awesome is that? And check out the great Chartwheel offer to save even more!
Get The Whole Family Involved
The best way to keep your pets happy this winter is to get the whole family involved!  We all get down on the ground to play with both our pets. Including little Emma! That’s one of the main reasons I want to make sure the carpet stays clean. Since she’s at the stage where she’s crawling around, knowing that the carpet is clean is such a relief.
