How has it already been 11 months? I am beside myself. In this month of love, I just can’t help but be a little emotional about my baby turning one next month. Just a little. As in, I may or not be snuggling long past usual with her bedtime bottle before I put her in her crib. I just can’t get enough of those tiny sleepy snuggles since she’s constantly on the go during the day! Now when she snuggles, or we carry her, she holds on with her tiny little grip as hard as she can. It melts my heart to see how fiercely she clings to us.
She is babbling up a storm, loves waving, and is so curious about everything! She is also really learning how to problem solve and it is adorable. She’s turned into a full time daddy’s girl and just adores their time in the afternoons. I promise mommy isn’t jealous of their daily playtime at all. She’s even started to say “dada” all the time (mostly contextually appropriate) but will even say it when I tell her to say “mama” and Glenn just thinks it’s hilarious! She also has really started to play hide & seek. She will put her hands over her face when we say “where’s Emma?” and just giggles. Plus, she loves closing and opening the door to her room when someone is on the outside. Also, she’s really started to take interest in her two little stuffed animals on her changing table (bunny & bear) and likes to snuggle them. It. is. so. precious.
Measurements:
- 18 lbs
- 29-30 inches (unofficial)
- formula, oatmeal, all sorts of veggies & fruits & combinations, & chicken combos! (3 meals) puffs, and fruit pieces (she loves bananas!)
- some 3-6 months, but mostly 6 months and 6-9 months – it just depends on which brand! She’s still tiny but healthy as can be!
- size 3 diapers (and obsessed with our Parasol bundle!)
Emma took a road trip with us this month to meet her new little cousin and visit with family and she did so great! She’s no longer the tiniest of grandchildren, but she’s still the only baby girl! I love that family is close enough for a weekend visit, and love that Emma has cousins to grow up alongside. It was also Emma’s first Valentine’s Day this month! She got her teacher’s little Valentine’s, and got to help mommy pick out some new decor too. She is quickly becoming my favorite shopping partner with her curiosity. Although, her curiosity often means she wants to cart surf rather than sit in the seat, so we’re working on that. I have found though that she loves the tiny carts at places and will actually stay sitting in those! Probably because they are mini like she is.
Loves:
- puffs & banana pieces
- bathtime splashing
- her touch & feel books
- cruising around holding on to everything & *almost* walking
- waving at everyone, especially herself in the mirror
She’s still learning so much at daycare and loves her time there with her little friends and teachers! She’s started eating some small pieces of fruit and using a sippy cup this month as well. She really likes the ones with the soft tops like her bottle nipples, and has not been a fan of the harder ones (like her Auburn Tervis one) at all. She also doesn’t seem to like the handles and prefers to just hold the bottle itself. We found one that’s the same as her bottles only with the sippy lid & she’s liked the ones at daycare too. She’s had a little bit of water, but doesn’t seem too interested in it. We’ll see what happens when it gets warmer!
She got sick this month too & had to go back on antibiotics, but took them like a champ this time around! She actually even seemed to enjoy the flavor of it. Her poor little cough though was pitiful (just like daddy’s). Those little teeth aren’t helping either! While the bottom two are the only ones that have popped out, she’s been drooling a whole bunch so we expect more to come soon. We’ve gotten so many fun bows & bibs from the giveaway we won which has been fun too this month! Also, while we sent out invites for her part last month, we’ve finalized all the details this month and it is becoming so real. So many mixed emotions!
Hates:
- when something is taken from her that she’s holding (she’s got a strong grip too!)
- basically not getting her way leads to a mini diva breakdown but she’s usually fine shortly after (after we don’t immediately pick her up) and she gets distracted by a toy. DIVA. But a very cute diva 🙂
