12 Months

One year. 12 whole months. I just can’t even comprehend that our tiny tiger is already a year old. It’s absolutely crazy to me! I feel like we just got home from the hospital, but also like she’s always been with us. This past year has just been so amazing in so many ways. Difficult, tiring, confusing and worryful mind you. But also hilarious, joyful, and beyond incredible. I wrote Emma a letter the other day, in an attempt to express just how much she means to me, but I scarcely think that’s possible.  She is just growing into the most fun little one! And her clothes are too cute for words. I mean, her Sunday outfits just kill me. Especially the one below with daddy!

Measurements:

  • 19 lbs
  • 30 inches
  • formula in her sippy cups and finger foods, basically anything and everything we put in front of her!
  • mostly 6-9 months or 9 months – it just depends on which brand! Some 6-12 months dresses & 12 months tees. She’s still tiny but healthy as can be!
  • size 3 diapers (and still obsessed with our Parasol bundle!)

She now has 5 teeth! Another one cut through on the bottom and her two front teeth on top as well. Those little teeth are really help to expand her culinary experience and boy is she thrilled about it! We started her on the schools’ meal plan in her new classroom and she is loving all the new foods! We’ve also tried a bunch of things at home from what we’re eating and so far she’s done well with most everything. Even thankfully limas and green beans despite HATING them pureed. She’s walking now a few steps at a time without holding on to anything, but will cruise away if she’s got something to push or hold onto. Then she’s truly on the move! She loves standing up and crawling up and over things. She’s basically never still unless she’s sick or its bedtime. Then she is a cuddle machine.

Loves:

  • bath time & all the splashing
  • playing peek a boo
  • bananas & goldfish crackers
  • blueberry waffles & muffins
  • climbing up in mommy’s lap at the end of the day to play & “talk”
  • afternoon strolls with daddy

She has such an expressive little face and loves to giggle and make all sorts of sounds to “talk” to us. Dada is still her strongest but lots of other have emerged as well. Our morning car rides are filled with her sweet little sounds and noises! Sometimes, I think she might just be singing a made up song like her daddy does! She is so inquisitive and always wants to figure out how a toy or gadget works and has really started to get creative with some of her interactive toys. We keep some books out on the coffee table & she loves flipping through her Very First Books by Eric Carle (shapes, colors, & numbers are her favorites!). She loves being mommy’s tiny sidekick and is always helping me around the house or out doing chores. Chart surfing just might be her favorite.

I have so loved doing these monthly updates on Emma on here, but I have also enjoyed having a hardcover book as well to document these first 12 months. Her Lucy Darling Simple Book of Firsts has seriously been so perfect to create as we went along and I really love that we have something we can pull out when people are over (slash really just when the grandparents are over & when I look through it lol) but seriously, it’s so adorable and simple! See details in this post of the book!

Hates:

  • her nose being wiped
  • cheese at the moment (ah!) but hoping that changes
  • still diva meltdowns when something is taken from her BUT she is getting better
  • still not loving new people (I’m kinda ok with all the stranger danger though!)
