Jalapeno Margarita | Recipe

Who says Mexican fiesta’s are only for Cinco de Mayo? Seriously, if I had to choose, I’d pick chips, queso, guac and margs every day for the rest of my life. Seriously. While I’ve always been an old fashioned frozen margarita girl, recently I have loved trying new flavored margaritas. And now my all time favorite is a jalapeno margarita.

If you read our latest adventure in our Supper Club, you’ll know we tackled authentic tacos al pastor (and by we I mean my husband who literally kills it on the BGE). So naturally to accompany said amazing tacos, we opted for the jalapeno margarita to be the drink of choice for the evening.

Ingredients
  1. ¾ cup tequila
  2. ¼ to ½ jalapeño pepper, plus extra slices for garnish
  3. ¼ cup Grand Marnier
  4. ½ cup fresh lime juice, plus lime slices for garnish
  5. ¼ cup simple syrup (you'll need sugar and water for this if you want to make it yourself)
  6. handful of ice
For the Tequila
  1. Pour the tequila into a mixing glass or small pitcher.
  2. Add the sliced jalapeño, ¼ to ½ of it, depending on how spicy you want your margaritas.
  3. Set aside at room temp for an hour (the longer you let the jalapeños infuse, the spicier it will be).
For the Simple Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, combine equal parts of sugar and water.
  2. Bring to a boil, stirring until the sugar has dissolved.
  3. Chill in the fridge until ready to use.
For the Margarita
  1. Mix together the jalapeño-infused tequila, Grand Marnier, lime juice and ¼ cup simple syrup. Pour into glasses and add lime slices and jalapeños for garnish.
Notes
  1. Make to your taste! If you’d like a spicier margarita, add more jalapeño and let it it sit a little longer. Less spicy, don't add as much.
