Simple Firetruck | Craft

Fire trucks are always exciting to see when you’re a kid, and so is playing dress up and make believe as a firefighter – for both girls and boys! Once things resume normalcy, we plan to take a trip to the fire station! This episode of Peppa Pig talks about the mommies at the Fire Station. And Paw Patrol is always a great resource to talk about Community Helpers with kids!

Materials:

  • Red construction paper
  • Yellow construction paper
  • White construction paper
  • Blue construction paper (background – can be any color aside from red, yellow, black or white)
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Instructions:

  • Cut out 1 red large rectangle
  • Cut out 1 red medium rectangle
  • Glue down the two red rectangles to make the base (large rectangle horizontally) and cab (medium rectangle vertically) of the firetruck
  • Cut out 1 white medium rectangle
  • Cut out 1 white small rectangle (for sizing: the two white rectangles will fit side by side in the medium red rectangle)
  • Glue the two white rectangles side by in the medium red rectangle (the cab)
  • Cut out 1 long white strip
  • Glue the white strip along the base of the fire truck
  • Cut out 3 black circles (for the wheels)
  • Glue two of the wheels halfway on the white strip under the base, and the remaining one halfway on the white strip under the cab
  • Cut out 2 long thin yellow strips (for the ladder sides)
  • Glue these with a space between them horizontally on the base of the firetruck
  • Cut out 5 short thin yellow strips (for the ladder rungs)
  • Glue the rungs down in between the ladder sides
  • Cut out 1 yellow oval
  • Glue this to the front of the firetruck to be the light
  • Cut out 1 yellow trapezoid
  • Glue this above the cab to be the flashing light
  • Cut 1 spiral of black paper (for the hose)
  • Glue down the tip to the back of the truck

Emma decided to draw firefighters in her truck – the one in the front she said was the driver & the one in charge – the girl. The one behind that was her parter – the boy. “Because girls can be the fire captains too.” Clearly mommy watching Station 19 hasn’t rubbed off on her at all.
