For Emma’s 4th Birthday, she wanted to have a Frozen themed party at the park, and basically spend the day as Elsa. So, that’s what we did! Being on the front end of the coronavirus pandemic, things were just starting to shut down the week before her party (which was scheduled on her actual birthday this year). Schools were starting to close that following Monday, the clinic, basically all of the state amidst the Covid-19 panic. To say I was worried about her party was an understatement. Would anyone still come? Would she be devastated if her friends weren’t there? How would we explain this crazy virus to a toddler who just wanted a winter wonderland to celebrate being four?
We debated on cancelling her party, or postponing it, but decided to move forward since it was outdoors and she was BEYOND excited for it. This was her first birthday party where she invited her school friends! And it was the best decision in the midst of craziness. It stormed the night before and rained all morning (as it tends to do when you plan an outdoor endeavor), but the sun cam out as we started setting up, and let’s be real, the tiny humans find a way to get dirty mud or not.
While we did have some last minute regrets from guests, several friends and family were still able to come. And you know what? Emma declared it her best birthday to date! That’s the beauty of childhood. She didn’t stress one moment, and had a blast with the people who were present for her special day, twirling around, frolicking on the playground, and just enjoying the day. To embrace her joy in the present moment is something I strive to capture daily.
The decorations turned out great, and I loved the way the ballon arch came together! I’ve linked all the details at the end of this post if you’re looking to throw a frozen themed party for any age! We always get our cupcakes from Publix (their bakery is our favorite!)
The Olaf piñata was definitely a hit with the tiny humans! Though I will say we overfilled it for sure and next time we’ll opt for other options besides candy.
I put together these little goody bags for the kids, and Wynn found the most precious cookies from Pickle Biscuits and they were perfect for her party!
