We had so much fun during weather week, and especially with our crafts with the neighbors! We made this simple paper straw kite craft & they were a bit hit! The girls had to match with their pink & red, but you can use just about any color or patterned paper to make these kites fun and festive for each kid!
Materials:
- Colored (or patterned) construction paper
- Colorful paper straws
- String
- Ribbon
- Stickers
- Crayons or markers
- Glue
- Scissors
Instructions:
- Cut out 2 equally sized diamonds out of the paper
- Glue the two pieces together (use differing colors for a fun pattern!)
- Decorate each side with stickers or draw with crayons/markers
- Glue on one paper straw vertically
- Cut a second straw to width to glue on horizontally
- Tie the end of a long string to the intersection of the two straws
- Loop the opposite end of the string through the cut off piece from the horizontal straw & tie off
- Wrap the string up on the small straw piece (the handle)
- Glue a piece of ribbon to the bottom point of the kite
- Tie 2-3 smaller pieces of ribbon to the tail of the kite
- Let dry, then fly outside in the wind!
