Movie Fridays are always a good idea, and while real popcorn is quite the tasty treat by itself – we loved making this simple paper popcorn craft too! This was a great way to work on fine motor skills through cutting, scrunching, gluing, and more!
Materials:
- construction paper (red, white, and a background color)
- scissors
- yellow crayon/marker
- glue
Instructions:
- cut up small strips of white paper
- color a few of the strips with yellow
- scrunch up all but 5-7 of the strips to make the popcorn
- cut out an asymmetrical rectangle out of red (top wider than the bottom)
- glue down the box to your background
- glue on the 5-7 white strips you set aside to make the stripes on the box
- cut out a small rectangle out of the red paper to make the label and glue on top of the stripes
- glue on each of the popcorn pieces to the top of the box
We also love this game for a fun way to work on letter recognition both expressively and receptively!
Of course, on the day you do this craft, let your tiny human pick a movie, and curl up together (with a real bowl of popcorn) and spend some quality time together!
