Of course Vegas wouldn’t be complete without a show or two scheduled! But there are also some other ways to spend your time outside the casino, that we think you’ll love. Check out our favorite activities to do while we’re there, and which shows were less than desireable.
Shows
Absinthe was hilarious, full of talent, and awe inspiring. Of course we had to get the absinthe special drink too. We had AMAZING seats on the second row, but to be honest, there wasn’t a bad seat in the house due to the way the tent is set up.
Atomic Saloon was irreverent, uncomfortable, and well, just awful. And the space was also literally uncomfortable – we sat on wooden bar stools that were crammed in so tightly together that two normal human adults were squished up in each other laps practically.
Zumanity I would certainly have opted for a different Cirque Du Soleil option as this one was much more variety show and less acrobatics. It was good, but I’d pick something else next time. The venue was cool though.
Shopping
Forum Shops at Caesars and the Grand Canal Shoppes are your best bets for some prime shopping of the best high class designer merchandise. Though it’s indoors, it’s made to look like you’re outside with even with what appears to be a bewitched ceiling – unless of course, you’re a muggle 😉 There are also lots of places to grab a drink or snack which you browse, and the gondola ride is here as well.
Events / Other
The Bellagio Fountain is certainly a well known attraction in Vegas, but man is it spectacular. The shows are set to music, and it’s a must see at least once during the day and once at night. I think we’ve yet to see the same show!
The Canyon Ranch Spa was absolutely divine. I mean, talk about all day pampering. Not only do they have all the typical services from massages, to facials, manicures, pedicures, and everything in between, the amenities are incredible. From thermal cabins, experiential rains, saunas, and hot tubs, they have it all. Not to mention the salon services!
The massage at the MGM Grand Spa was great, however the other amenities paled in comparison to Canyon Ranch. If you’re looking for a quick massage and not a whole day at the spa, the is good.
On this visit, we wanted something to do one day aside from gambling, and something that would be more of an excursion. While taking a trip over to the Grand Canyon is certainly doable to plan into your itinerary, we wanted something we could do that morning and be back by dinnertime. Blazin’ Paddles Kayak Tours offers both half day and full day tours so it was perfect for us.
You should visit the Old Las Vegas Strip – Fremont Street at least once during your time in Vegas. It was so cool to see the old signs, and casinos, and travel back in time a bit. It’s fun to see how the city has evolved over the years to what the main strip is now. It’s definitely a day attraction, and a fun way to spend the afternoon.
