If you’ve been around for a while here, you’ll remember the days when I started this little blog in a different era of life. I was in Mobile, and was just tinkering with sharing about our life while I was home following my surgery, and prior to our move to Birmingham. One of my favorite things during that time was volunteering with Ransom Cafe through our church in the kitchen, where I worked closely alongside a girl from our small group, Laci. There are still some of my favorite memories!
During that time, Laci & her husband were on the journey to parenthood, and I remember quite vividly her heart of longing, and passion to step into the role of motherhood that God had placed on her heart. Her story is beautiful, not because it is perfect, but because it is one of hope, faith, loss, tears, and ultimately, joy. I was beyond excited to hear that she had written Refuel Your Wait; captivating her story towards adoption, but also capturing her heart during a time of waiting.
You see, while we are not in the season of adoption ourselves, there are plenty of things that have required waiting, clinging to hope and faith through the process. I mean, think about it right now; throughout this worldwide pandemic, we have all be forced to wait; for a cure, for things to reopen, for healing, for answers. And Laci, throughout the book, beautiful illustrates how we learn to lean on Him throughout the waiting. How, when we choose to lay our worries and fears at His feet, He guides us to His purpose.
The beauty of Refuel Your Wait is that each chapter is filled with scripture and hope, along with questions to journal through, or discuss with close friends or in a small group. Laci dives into her story to share the struggles, pain, and doubt that come during a time of waiting, and how the Lord comforted, guided and changed her heart throughout the entire process.
I would strongly encourage any ladies aching to conceive to read her pages. Parents stumbling through the adoption process to find solace in these pages. And mothers of any kind to look back on the 9+ months prior to holding your beloved child while your read the pages. But more than that, if you’ve found yourself in a period of waiting, I encourage you to grab a copy and listen as Laci pulls you in to her story, and points you towards the One who holds you close during the wait.
This book will encourage the reader to turn their wait from a passage of time into intentional time of prayer, relationship building, and unexpected joy.
