#ELBookClub January 2021 pick
Starting the year off in a healthy manner is always a great idea. Body Love by Kelly Leveque was the first “health” book I’ve read in a while, and it was the first that was actually motivating. She did a great job of mixing in science-based practice for her techniques as well as clients stories. The book was very straightforward and easy to follow, as well as encouraging. I enjoyed the addition of some recipes, and the ability to make things my own. I truly appreciated the validity of the data for such practices in regards to metabolism and your body. She reiterated several times that our bodies were not made to diet, our bodies crave certain proteins at certain times and helping us understand the way our body metabolizes food and sugar really helps us to understand what our body needs and when.
Learning to understand how your body feels following the consumption of certain food items goes along way to help you be mindful of your eating habits. I liked starting the year with this book because it wasn’t about a “quick fix or “fad diet“ but rather forming new habits and a new lifestyle.
