We really wanted to have a large yard when we moved, and the husband has long wanted chickens, so when we moved out here he build a chicken coop and we became the proud owners of a few lovely little ladies. We started with 10 chicks, and have 6 now. Two didn’t make it after a few days, and then one turned out to be a rooster! When Bernadette started the cock a doodle doo at ALL HOURS, it was time for Bernie to go.
One Saturday morning Glenn found Bernie trying to get sassy with the other ladies, and he had had enough. While I rolled over and went back to sleep, Glenn went and caught him, rung his neck, and next thing I know we had chicken for lunch. It was an interesting experience to say the least! Since then, the ladies have been quite pleasant and are masters at laying eggs.
