#ELBookClub November 2021 pick
I read Bread and Wine: A Love Letter to Life Around the Table with Recipes by Shauna Niequist years ago, so it was fun to revisit it again. If you’ve read any of Shauna’s other books, you’ll know of her propensity for weaving a beautiful story. You can read my thoughts on Present over Perfect for more on her other work. But back to the book at hand.
There’s something so beautiful about sharing a meal with people. Something so comforting that comes with breaking bread with people. It eases conversation. It creates community. It soothes people and allows for space to create vulnerability and true communication. I certainly recommend reading this one, and not opting for an audiobook version.
Also, as a believer, bread and wine just poses a deeper meaning in connection to communion. I wrote a post on that a while back as well, should you want to check it out.
