2022 Book List

My 2022 book list is here! Every year this is one of my favorite posts to put together. I love cataloguing what I’ve read, and this year Emma wanted me to create her a bookshelf too. She asked why I wasn’t adding the chapter books I was reading to her to my list, and you know what? I didn’t have a good answer, just that I usually don’t add kids books since I read at least one or two a day (sometimes the same ones) so I never thought to count them, but we added those too!

As you may have guessed based on the recent series- I listened to a lot of podcasts this year which cut into audio book time, cutting the number of books to hit the 2022 shelf. While I didn’t meet the number I set, still very pleased with how many books I read this year! Get all the details below and check out my Goodreads for all books.

Amelia Bedila Goes Wild

I just love Amelia Bedila and her quirkiness. And I adore getting to read these to Emma and her read along as well!

On Earth as in Heaven

N.T. Wright is one of my absolute favorites. This book goes through the liturgical calendar and is one I know I will be circling back to from time to time.

Atomic Habits

I had seen so many people adding this one to their lists that I respect, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and it is that good. And it is extremely behavioral; not in jargon per se, but in ideology. I really enjoyed this one!

Fieldwork & Supervision for Behavior Analysts

Ellie Kazimi is a gem in the field and this was one I revisited as I put a focus on supervising grad students this year.

Amelia Bedila Road Trip

Lots of idioms to explain and reading these brings back lots of memories for me!

The Personal Assistant

Good audio book – if you aren’t in the influencer marketing world it might not hold the same entertainment value, but a good option nonetheless for some interesting twists.

Get out of Your Head (devotional)

I read the book previously, and the study was a great way to apply and flesh out those teachings.

Building and Sustaining Meaningful and Effective Relationships as a Supervisor and Mentor

Linda was one of my major professors so this book has been fun to rediscover how she and Jim mentored us during their time at Auburn and see how I can utilize those some techniques practically with my own supervisees. (Also listened to The Lift Podcast where Linda and Tyra discussed topics in the book and had lots of guests on as well to chat – so good!)

The CBT Toolbox

This was a personal and not professional read, and I really enjoyed some of the deep work it created for me to walk the through some anxiety and OCD.

The Sleepover

Listened to this one – it was ok, but not anything truly special. Chose it purely based on the fact that Imogen Church narrated and man is she talented.

On a Quiet Street

Listened to this one – very good!

Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit

We did this in our Sunday School class and it followed along with the sermon series. A bit redundant at times but I liked how it broke down each of the fruits.

The Woman in the Library

Listened to this one after we got back from Boston as it was set there and it was a great story!

Every Vow You Break

Listened to this one – very twisty!

Made for this Moment

Read this one after my husband heard her on Rick and Bubba and said he thought I’d actually really enjoy it. I have never watched more than a random episode or two of the bachelor/bachelorette, so I did some video prep to know what happened on her season to understand the framework of those aspects of her stories. Overall, it was a tad young, but she had a lot of great things to say. Plus, she’s an Auburn gal.

Jesus Over Everything

Listened to this one and wanted to have a physical copy to take notes in. Blog post to come on lots of the topics in the book!

One Year ABA Parent Training Curriculum

Great resource for BCBAs.

False Witness

Karin Slaughter is talented. Great listen.

The Only Necessary Thing

A collection of Henri Nouwen’s excerpts organized into categories based on prayer. Always a good depth of knowledge within his words.

Find Your People

One of my favorite books this year. Loved having the physical copy, and recommended it to all my fellow moms.

Don’t Mom Alone

This was a great listen that moms of any stage should add to their list.

Permission Granted

Another physical copy that I was glad to have. This jumped out to me last year and it was a much needed read.

Tear Me Apart

Good Girls Lie

Her Dark Lies

I clearly got on a J.T. Ellison kick – listened to all 3 of these and they did not disappoint.

Such A Good Wife

Really interesting ending and a good listen.

7 Days of Simplicity

I always love to listen to Jen and this shorter version of her previous work was a great quick reminder.

Someone’s Listening

I also clearly got on a Seraphina Nova Glass kick. Great listen.

The Other Side of the Door

I picked this one purely based on the fact that Imogen Church was the narrator and it was a good thriller!

You’re Always Enough

I could talk for days about this precious book. The message is what every kid (and adult) needs to be reminded of. My new go to baby shower gift for new moms, and the book I’m getting all of Emma’s teachers to sign.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

My brother gave me this when it came out but Emma had just been born and I never got around to actually reading it. It was fun diving back into the Wizarding World, but it was a bit of a letdown to be honest.

The Year of Living Happy

Easy and light read to start the year off.
