Christmas Tree Game

festive christmas tree game

This Christmas Tree Game is so simple to set up, and lots of fun to play! It’s perfect for small groups, kids, and adults alike and can be tailored for your crowd very easily. Plus it’s inexpensive to set up and you might even have all the materials you need on hand.

Materials:

  • Red or Green Solo Cups
  • Red and Green Tissue Paper
  • Yellow and Brown Construction Paper
  • Poster Board
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Rubber Bands

Instructions:

  • Make a tree design with your cups & hot glue the bottom to a board or poster board. Use as many cups as you want for this.
  • Make a star out of yellow construction paper, and a tree stump out of brown construction paper (you’ll put these on at the end).
  • Use a small bowl to trace a circle (about 4 in in diameter) on your tissue paper
    • you will need enough circle to cover each of the cups you glued down
    • you can get 4 circle from most tissue paper pieces

Now fill in your cups! Use small treats, candy, minis, gift cards or money depending on who is playing. For our girls (elementary and middle school ages) I opted for beauty products like lip gloss, nail polish and bath salts, small candies, hair accessories, and fuzzy socks. I got everything at Target and you could easily get some great finds at Walmart or other stores for a great deal. I tried to space out the items so like items weren’t next to each other.

Next, take the tissue paper circles and rubber bands and cover each cup making whatever design/pattern you choose. I spaced out my red ones to resemble ornaments! Also, I tried to make sure I wasn’t covering the same “type” of treat with the same color so as to throw them off of any pattern with the things inside the cups.

Te set it up, you could tape/pin to the wall or a door so it’s upright. We opted to tape to a metal sign we had (a board will do as well) and prop up on a chair since it was a bit chilly to be outside.

We chose to make it a game too! After combining two games really, we set up a table and put lines down with festive washi tape and each line had a corresponding bow and instruction (think: choose green or red, blindfolded, spin around & blindfolded, etc.). You roll the TP, and whichever line it passes, you complete that instruction and then you get that prize inside! Continue rolling/selecting until all prizes have been collected. We opted to draw numbers to see the order, too.

Such a fun and simple festive game for a Christmas party! See other festive games here.
